Tanaka Farms CSA Policies & Procedures

Accepted Forms of Payment

Tanaka Farms uses Farmigo, a web-based software program to help manage the financial interactions between our subscribers and our farm. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.

Your payment will be processed 2-4 days BEFORE your next delivery.

Cancellation Policy

Once enrolled as a subscriber and you have accepted the terms of automatic recurring billing to your account, you may cancel your subscription at any time up until four days prior to your next scheduled pick-up by emailing us at CSA@TanakaFarms.com and stating that you would like to cancel your subscription.

Refunds

Your complete satisfaction is paramount to the success of our program. We are more than happy to replace any fruit or vegetable that does not meet your standards or to refund your money for any of the produce in question if you so desire.

We cannot refund, replace or offer credit for missed pickups or last minute cancellations. As a farm, our CSA produce cannot be re-stocked or re-sold. Thank you for your understanding.

Communications

Tanaka Farms will be communicating with you via email on a regular basis to inform you of a payment that has been made or to remind you of a scheduled pick-up and many other communications in regards to your CSA subscription and also happenings on the farm.

By agreeing to join our CSA, you are agreeing to open and read all email communications as soon as you see them as much of the information is time sensitive.

Vacations and Temporary Holds

If you are unable to pick up your CSA box for whatever reason, you may put your subscription on hold for as long as you like, at least four days prior to your next scheduled pick-up. For example, if you are scheduled for a pick-up on Wednesday, you have until 2:00am on Saturday to put your subscription on hold. Sign in to your account, view your upcoming fulfillments and select Skip Delivery.

  1. If you happen to miss the deadline, please arrange to have your CSA box picked up by a family member or friend and make sure that they are aware of our Pick-up Protocol.

  2. If for whatever reason you could not make arrangements to have your CSA box picked up, please call the pick-up site coordinator to let them know that you cannot pick up your box.

  3. It will be up to the coordinator what they will do with your box.

Pick-Up Protocol

If you have chosen to pick up your CSA box from a pick-up site, please thoroughly read our Pick-up Protocol below. Understanding and following these instructions is very important to the successful operation of our CSA! Not following them WILL LEAD TO PROBLEMS and chronic abusers may be asked to leave our membership.

  1. Remember to pick up box!

    1. You should receive a reminder via email, but it is ultimately your responsibility to pick up your share on the correct day and during the allotted pick-up time.

    2. If you forget, we cannot replace, refund or give you credit.

  2. When you first arrive at the pick-up site, look for your name on the checklist.

    1. If your name is NOT on the list, DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING!

    2. We only drop off enough boxes, etc. for the people listed. If you take something and you are not on the list, you are taking someone else's share. Call us and we will find out the reason and work things out.

  3. ONLY take what is listed next to your name.

    1. This includes making sure of the size box that you are scheduled to pick-up.

    2. And if you ordered any add-ons.

    3. If your name IS on the list but there is not a correct size left, it is okay to take the other. If your name is on the list, a share has been packed for you, so don't leave empty handed. Occasionally someone will take the wrong thing, so if there are no boxes left in your size, take the other size and then call us and let us know so that we can work things out.

    4. People can also forget to check their names off so do not assume remaining boxes necessarily map to the number of un-checked boxes on the checklist. If your name is on the list, take a share.

  4. Keep the pick-up site neat and clean

    1. Do not leave unwanted produce or trash at the pick-up site.

    2. Leave empty box, unfolded and flattened in a neat pile.

  5. If you cannot pick-up your box at the scheduled time:

    1. Please call the pick-up site coordinator to inform them that you cannot be there

    2. It will be up to the coordinator what to do with your box.

    3. You will be charged the full amount for your missed pick-up.

Delivery Fee/Handling Fee

If you are receiving your CSA box from a pick-up site, the delivery fee is $3.00 per box regardless as to the size of the box. The home delivery fee is $10.00.

There is no delivery fee if you are picking up from Tanaka Farms' Produce Stand or Hana Field.

Return Empty Boxes

Please return your empty, flattened box when picking up your next scheduled CSA box.

Do not tear the boxes as they become unusable. To open the top, look for creases that "squeeze to unlock." DO NOT PULL or TEAR at the flaps. To flatten the box, turn upside down and fold the ends towards the inside of the box, and then outwards. Once you have unlocked the flaps, the box will fold on itself.

Fundraiser Payments

For schools participating in Tanaka Farms' fundraising program, payments are made quarterly. Funds accumulated:

  • January through March will be sent out April 15

  • April through June will be sent out July 15

  • July through September will be sent out October 15

  • October through December will be sent out January 15
